The 8th Annual Loop the Lake
Welcome to the 8th annual Loop the Lake run hosted by the Capital Striders Running Club. This year, Loop the Lake will continue with its traditional 8K run and 2-Mile walk courses on the roads and trail at Gray's Lake Park near downtown Des Moines.

The event will begin with the 8K race at 8:00 a.m., followed at 8:15 a.m. by the start of the 2-Mile walk, and will conclude with the Little Lakers races at 9:00 a.m.

Loop the Lake is a flat, fast course and is becoming a must-do event for runners of all skill levels. With temperatures expected to be moderate and great refreshments at the finish, this run is enjoyable for all participants.

The Events
The 8K race - 8:00 a.m.
2-Mile Walk - 8:15 a.m.
Little Lakers Race - 9:00 a.m.

The 8K course if USTAF certified and is run on a twelve foot wide (in most sections), relatively flat asphalt trail. This race completes just over two loops around the lake. The 2-Mile walk completes one loop around the lake.

Little Lakers Run
Children 10 years old and younger will be placed in age groupings and will run distances of 100 - 400 meters along the path. Pre-registration is required prior to 8:30 a.m. on race day. There is no entry fee for the Little Lakers Run. Races begin at 9:00 a.m. Free T-shirts for the 50 registrants. Ribbons for all participants.

Getting There
Gray's Lake Park is located south of downtown on Fleur Drive. From I-235 take the M.L. King exit and head south 1.5 miles to the park entrance. Parking will be on the west side of Fleur Drive at Waterworks Park. Map

Registration is required, but there is no fee for the Little Lakers

NO ENTRY FEE REFUNDS

Moisture control shirt sizes are guaranteed for the first 400 registrations received by 3/15 and cotton shirt sizes for registrations received by 3/28.

Packet Pick-Up
4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, Raccoon River Brewing Company located at the corner of 10th and Mulberry

6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at Gray's Lake Park
Shirt size not guaranteed the day of the race.

Participants Receive
Short sleeve moisture control shirts will be guaranteed to the first 400 registrants. After 400 registrations, registrants will receive short sleeve cotton shirts. Great post-race refreshments.

Awards
Awards will be given to overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 1st Masters; plus to the top 3 places in 5-year age groups through age 70, male and female. Only one award per person. Winners can claim prizes at the designated Awards Table starting at 8:45 a.m.

Results
Printed race results will be available 30 minutes after the 8K race concludes and will also be posted on the Capital Striders web site (right here) at www.CapitalStriders.org no later than Sunday, April 6th.
