Thank you to all who attended the annual Strider Dinner Meeting on March 4, 2011. We had a nice turnout and pretty full room of 63 guests at the Raccoon River Nature Lodge. Our current president, Brian Palmer did a great job conducting the meeting and entertaining us as Master of Ceremonies. We devoured the delicious feast provided by Baratta's. Alyssa Subbert did an awesome job of educating us how to prevent injuries and proper running form. Many thanks to Alyssa for sharing.
We acknowledged a number of individuals and organizations including Scheels All Sports which received the "Golden Shoe" Sponsor of the Year award for their continued support of the Capital Striders. Jake Johnson was honored with the Volunteer of the Year award for spearheading the Capital Striders water stop during the DM Marathon and for volunteering at other races throughout the year. It was also noted that the Capital Striders annual New Year's Day Mitten Run raised nearly $750 for warm clothes that was donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa.
It was lots of fun in determining: Best Race T-Shirt Design went to Kent Bain for 2009 Drake On the Roads Oldest Race T-shirt went to Gene Harding for his mid 70's Boston Marathon Furthest Away Race T-shirt went to John Taylor for either his Thailand or Antarctica races Ugliest Race Design T-Shirt went to Chris Brooks for his 2004 Escape to Alcatraz.
There were 6 candidates up for board positions, the 5 voted in were:

The 5 new board members will serve a 2 year appointments and Officers will be decided by the board at the next meeting scheduled for March 22nd.
