Do you know a high school senior who participates in cross-country or track and field?

Since 1999, the Capital Striders have awarded five $1,200 scholarships to Polk County student-athletes who compete in cross-country or track and field. The scholarships are named after the following donors and pivotal members of the Des Moines running community:

• Bobenhouse-Lavender Foundation
• Chuck Jipp
• Dave Hurd
• Kinetic Edge
• Stan Smith

A committee of the Capital Striders Board of Directors selects each recipient, drawing inspiration from the stories and legacies of these individuals and organizations.
